Choosing a Digital Agency
Once you’ve made the step of deciding that you’re ready to develop your web presence you need to think about selecting a digital agency. A digital agency can fulfil all of your online needs. Of course, some agencies might specialise in only web design and development or only in web marketing, but most are known as full service digital agencies. By full service digital agency we mean one that has the right people to manage everything about a company’s online strategy. This means that everything from the design and development of your website, to the online marketing can be managed by one company. This avoids crossed wires and communication breakdowns whilst saving time and money.
When selecting a digital agency, the biggest thing on your mind might be your budget. Try to think about it in terms of investing rather than spending. Some of the biggest traditional advertising agencies now incorporate their own digital agency. Whilst these are very reputable, experience and expertise can just as easily be found in smaller agencies.
Think about what the digital agency can offer you. If budget is tight it is always worth asking to see some measurable return on investment. In cases where web marketing has been used, this is much simpler. An increase in site visitors and e-commerce sales are visible and tangible.
Research a digital agency’s client list and examples of previous work. An agency which has experience of successfully producing sites with similar functionality as your own is likely to be a good choice. Also, if you are a user of a site which you admire for its ease of use or design, find out the digital agency that made it. You’ll usually find a link to the digital agency at the bottom of the site or in the resources section.
You could also search online for a digital agency. Remember that their position in the search engine rankings is likely to be a reflection of their marketing abilities. Similarly, if a digital agency has an unattractive site which is rarely updated you should probably steer clear.
Finally, if you are really keen to consider many options, think about submitting your brief to a tender website. Interested digital agencies will then submit their ideas and proposals and you might find you’re presented with some really original ideas that you might not otherwise have seen.
