The bulk of debt settlement companies advertise to some degree on the internet, with most actually marketing primarily on the internet. So given that fact it is no wonder that many Americans have a hard time actually believing the things that most of these companies say they can accomplish. Many of their marketing techniques engage in methods such as search engine optimization, or banner advertisements, or pay per click search marketing. With all of this marketing hype out there what are you as a consumer looking for assistance supposed to trust. For starters one thing you can do to get through the hype and make sure a firm is honest is to look up there standing in the Better Business Bureau.

Another one of the marketing tactics employed by these debt settlement companies is through radio and television commercials. This is where things can get very fuzzy. Reason being many of these companies make ridiculous claims that are not only not true but can get them shut down by the FTC. And if you put your cash into a firm that gets shut down by the FTC then I wouldn’t be to certain about getting any kind of refund on what you paid for a fee. A lot of these companies make claims of you having only to give back pennies on the dollar, which is untrue and that this is a little known secrets the credit card companies don’t want you to know, again also a big lie. So be cautious and do your research on a company first before giving them your money.
